Sharksnado is a made for television disaster film about a hurricane that causes a waterspout to form and draw sharks out of the ocean and into cities. The first movie in the series was released on Syfy channel July 11, 2013, and has since spawned five sequels.
It isn’t clear whether a waterspout would be strong enough to pick up and eat a shark, but it’s certainly unlikely. Besides, tornadoes have been known to pick up cows and train cars.
Plot Summary
A freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, bringing thousands of sharks to terrorize the waterlogged populace.
After watching his bar get destroyed, Fin Shepherd (played by a former professional surfer) is determined to get April and their teenage daughter, Claudia, out of the city. He calls on his friends, Baz and Nova, to help him in his quest.
As the group makes their way to April’s house, they encounter a variety of obstacles including stranded motorists, flooding and shark-infested seawater. While they’re driving, Fin accidentally flies into a storm spout and gets bitten by a shark.
Chainsaw-Wielding Wife
They eventually reach April’s home, where they find her and Claudia in a flooded bedroom. As the group attempts to rescue them, they’re pelted by sharks. Despite their valiant efforts, they’re all eaten by sharks — one after another. Thankfully, they’re saved by Fin’s chainsaw-wielding wife. But it’s a hollow victory for them, as Fin’s lethal prowess only denuclearizes the tornado and the sharks continue to chow down.
Synopsis
A freak hurricane hits Los Angeles and floods it with man-eating Sharksnado-infested water. Fin Shepard sets out with his friends Baz Hogan and Nova Clarke to find his wife April Wexler and teenage daughter Claudia, but April’s boyfriend is eaten by the sharks.
Trajectory to Wreak
Sharksnado are a series of weather events that have occurred throughout the world, where animals are drawn into cyclonic weather and then sent on a trajectory to wreak havoc. They can include sandstorms, bouldernadoes, oil tornadoes, fire tornadoes, lightningnadoes and even lavanadoes.
In the first film, Fin and his friends tossed bombs into the storms to stop them from coming in and killing everyone. However, they do not work and the sharknados continue to ravage the planet.
Astro Pods
The fourth movie introduces the technology called Astro Pods, which end storms by sending pulse effects through the air to disperse them, but they do not work on this variety of storms. They also have the ability to use a cold gun to end them, but it is unclear whether it actually works or not.
Cast

As they travel, they come across a school bus trapped in the floodwaters and surrounded by sharks. Fin rappels down from a bridge and saves the children, as well as the bus driver.
They also meet up with Fin and April’s son, Matt, who is in flight school.
